Coaching Biography

Coach Matthew Clancy is the Director of Endurance Performance at E3 Endurance. Having been a professional endurance sports coach since 2002, it was his dream to put all his knowledge, abilities, and services under one roof. At E3 Endurance, he develops and facilitates the training, testing, and coaching of endurance sports athletes from ages 5 to 75 within a state of the art training center that includes an Olympic-sized pool, CompuTrainer multi-rider cycle studio, a Retul innovative Fit Studio, VO2 & Metabolic Testing Lab and other equipment designed to make any athlete better.

At E3 Endurance, Coach Matt will determine your current fitness levels through physiological testing of VO2, Lactate, Body Composition, and Resting Metabolic Rate. Then he will determine baseline sport-specific abilities before designing personalized training protocols to help athletes achieve their desired outcome, whether that is to complete their first triathlon, qualify for the Boston Marathon, make a UCI cycling team, or improve swimming efficiency. His mission is to help all endurance athletes reach their goals by providing them with the best coaching, training, products, and equipment the endurance sport industry has to offer.

Personal Athletic Biography

I began my endurance sports career in college and since have participated in over 270 events. Those events instilled all sorts of knowledge and experience. Whether it was the glory of a win, a balanced performance, plain suffering, or having a complete failure, I have enjoyed it all and even had some success along the way: 30+ Overall Victories, 60+ Division Wins, and 150+ steps atop a podium. Below are a few of the experiences I remember most:

  • 2019 Dirty Kanza 200 Finisher
  • 2014-2019 All World Athlete – World Triathlon Corporation
  • 2012 USAT Aqua Bike 35-39 National Champion

  • Cat 4 & Cat 5 State Time Trial Champion (North Carolina)
  • 2006 Kiawah Island Triathlon Champion
  • Professional Triathlete 2003-2007 (15 Wins)
  • Being dropped by my future wife at Mile 19 at Ironman Wisconsin 2004
  • #1 Ranked 25-29 USAT Athlete Mid-Atlantic Region (2003)
  • 35+ Ironman Events
  • 6 X USAT All-American Triathlete
  • International Race Highlights (1995 Paris Marathon, 1995 Dublin Marathon, 1999 Ironman Switzerland, 2007 Irish Half-Ironman Champs, 2010 Irish National Triathlon Champs, 2010 ITU Duathlon World Champs, Scotland)
